THE LIVES WE LIVE

(We know the negative connotations associated with Valentine’s Day, but choose to spread much needed love this February)

TIMELESS LOVE LESSONS (CJ Austin) I am not a romanticist, but finally gave in to read the novel that apparently all women are supposed to love, Pride & Prejudice (Jane Austen, 1813). The edition I found included tips that I find quite good & applicable to many types of relationships: friendship and family as well as romantic.
> Try not to judge at first sight – first impressions can be misleading
> There is no single correct way to have a relationship. Happiness looks different to every person
> The search for stability or escape from loneliness are not right pillars for a happy relationship
> Leave the past in the past. Swallow your pride, apologize without keeping score of past grudges
> It is up to you to take care of your happiness
> You really do marry a family, not just a person
> There is transcendent joy in a long walk
> Biting wit and a pair of fine eyes are worth far more than a fancy dress
> Learn from mistakes – always
And now, I believe I will go watch the recommended BBC Pride & Prejudice (1995) mini series with Colin Firth & Jennifer Ehle.

Editorial
View From Behind (CJ Austin)
I’m drawing a bit of a blank, so I should take my father’s advice, “If you have nothing to say, say nothing.” But first, let me say, I am no different than all of you; family situations and current events are on minds and hearts. We thank you for your support and prayers as we get this fledging endeavor off the ground.
LOOKING FORWARD
Join us again February 24 when we expect to have our technical difficulties conquered. We look forward to your submissions!
