Whales (Humpback whales are author J. Credence’s favorite animal)
1. Scientists do not really know how whales which are warm blooded mammals stay hydrated. Sea water is dangerous for humans to drink, but somehow whales live in it and survive just fine without getting dehydrated.
2. Humpback whales spend 6 months in their breeding grounds in the waters around Hawaii. During this time there is no record of them eating. These animals fast for 6 months or more during which time they lose 1/3rd of their total body weight
